The Dithering of a District Diva

If you don’t know Ozwald Boateng, Ghanian designer and tailor to the stars, GET TO KNOW HIM:

I had not been to a fashion show until I’d seen Ozwald Boateng’s designs rip the runway Thursday afternoon. Though this is my first fashion week, that morning I’d seen BCBG’s Max Azria Spring/Summer 2013 collection and yes, the African designers presented at the Arise Magazine show (my second favorite, South African designer Gavin Rajah, Tiffany Amber, Maki Oh,  and Tsemaye Binite) at the Arise Magazine African Icons show, but it was not until Ozwald closed out the Arise Magazine show that I felt like I knew what a fashion show was supposed to be about!

The menswear designs (AND THE MEN!!!!!!!!!!) were intoxicating and well-fitted (unlike a preceding designer who had a model’s right breast pop out on the way down the runway), the music was hypnotic. There was just no other place to be other than Ozwald Boateng’s show.

NBA player Tyson Chandler sat front and center at the show and dapped up Ozwald on the runway afterwards. Chandler was also spotted flirting with the beautiful Angela Simmons (or maybe just stating the facts: “You look good!” Cause she did.) Also in attendance were June Ambrose with her daughter and Tonya Lewis Lee.

Of course, I had to chat with Angela Simmons after the show, diva to diva 🙂
