Dining with a Diva: Fresh of Georgetown's Sex and the City 2 Premiere (no spoilers)

Fresh of Georgetown hosted a VIP Sex and the City 2 Premiere pre-party, pre-screening, and after party last night/today that was simply fabulous.  We pulled up to the Georgetown Ritz-Carlton for the pre-party and were greeted by cute waiters armed with flukes of champagne.  The open bar in the lounge was lined with women sipping cosmos with their girlfriends.  The buzz of excitement that — at long last — we were about to see the movie we’ve been dying to see for months, was the undercurrent that bonded together a room full of strangers.

And then there was the fashion. We all donned our decadent best, avant-garde, and couture fashions, as this premiere was certainly to be the highlight of the month. There were feathers, hats, strappy sandals galore, bright colors, and sparkles and every kind of ruffle imaginable. Fashionistas of the District united, for one night, in Sex and the City solidarity.

Of course, the movie was amazing.  If you are a fan of the show, you will love it.  The only criticism I heard was that there was “too much discussion of female parts….”

0_O ummm, do you watch the show?

And this film was certainly less vulgar than the first one — and the series.  The girls are old, now.  Even Samantha hung up  the peep show this time around.  I promised no spoilers, so I will just say, I love Love LOVED it! And I can’t wait to see it again.

Walking into the after-party at L2 was like stepping into the future.  The neon-yet-tasteful lighting, the space-station round and square furniture, the egg-shaped bar stools — and the His and Hers bathroom.  Apparently, in the future, males and females will pee side-by-side, come out, wash their hands, and check their hair, all in the same room, and all at the same time.  Talk about gender equality.

The goody bags we received from Fresh of Georgetown were my third favorite thing of the night (behind the movie and the fashion, of course). There were gift certificates, hotel packages, an actual cupcake, hair products, gym memberships, dishes, and — the best part — a coupon for a free dress from Fresh! *DEAD*  I will be picking mine up, tomorrow! Thanks!

All-in-all, Fresh owner Kim Brown and Event Planner Marti Hines threw an amazing event, and created a memorable occasion  for all of the DC Divas who happen to also be addicted to all things Sex and the City.  Georgetown oozes fabulosity and was the perfect backdrop to a glamorous (though hors d’oeuvres-less) evening.

H/T to DCFab for putting me on to Fresh of Georgetown! Looking forward to the next event.
