My Day at the White House!

Of my three years in Washington, D.C., my third trip inside of the gates of the White House was definitely among the best days ever.  As a correspondent for EBONY.com, I attended an amazing event at the White House, the Vietnam Veterans Champions of Change, where the President’s Office of Public Engagement honored 12 Champions and veterans of various wars for their honorable service to other veterans.  After the event, I was able to sit down with one of President Obama’s Champions, 91-year-old World War II veteran, SSGT Stephen Sherman. He is truly one of the most fascinating people I’ve ever met!  You can read my interview on EBONY.com and watch a clip of the interview here:

I was also able to sit down with Darienne Page, the 30-year-old Iraq War veteran who literally worked her way up from Barack Obama campaign mailroom attendant to the Assistant Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement! Check out her awesome story on EBONY.com: “[INTERVIEW] Iraq Veteran Darienne Page Leads Obama’s Efforts to Honor the Troops.”

This was truly an awesome day that I was so honored to experience.  Besides Christ, our troops are the only ones who have died in each of our place. Let’s support them, pray for them, encourage them, love them and thank them for their service to us and our country, every day!
