Shame the Devil

I always wondered why Carrie Bradshaw’s friends never got pissed at her for telling the truth about them in her weekly column. A couple seasons in, I got my answer: her friends never read her column. There was an episode at the infamous coffee shop when Carrie blew up at her girls when she realized they didn’t really always have time to keep up with what she wrote in her column. If they had, I wonder if things would’ve been different between them…

Things were definitely different between Carrie and the politician after he read her piece entitled To Pee or Not to Pee? in reference to his penchant for watersports during sex. And the fantastic shagfest Carrie had planned with Big was delayed nearly indefinitely when he couldn’t tear himself away from the pieces she wrote about how much he had hurt her long enough to focus on the fact that she was asking for it.

I suppose all writers risk becoming the (warning: Black movie reference—–>) Harper Stewart of their friends, and might even get flung over a penthouse balcony for what they write. But I am a writer. Its both who I am and what I do. And only a fool would apologize for who she is.

This is not a gossip blog; I’m just a girl with a million thoughts bouncing around in my head. And it appears I have designated you the quiet universe where all my thoughts should go. My thoughts are all mine and if people are mentioned in my posting–trust–my focus is 100% on me and how that person impacted my life and what I learned as a result of that interaction (mostly because I think introspection is a duty of the living, but also because I am my favorite subject!). This blog is my truth and I must tell it the way I see it. As my mama says: “tell the truth, and shame the devil.”

And I will.

I am a writer. Love me or leave me. But be advised, either way, you might just end up in a post. Especially if you make me laugh. 😉

*Side note: if you think this is something, wait til you read the book. #TheDivaMonologues 2011
