Brooke Obie Reads from Debut Novel at Oxford University

Brooke Obie, Oxford

Brooke Obie was selected from numerous applicants to attend the Callaloo Journal of African Diaspora Arts and Letters Writers Workshop at Oxford University from July 10-16, 2016. Brooke participated in the fiction workshop, writing the sequel to her debut novel, Book of Addis: Cradled Embers, learning from award-winning novelist Ravi Howard, as well as the poetry and non-fiction instructors Vievee Francis and Fred D’Aguiar.

On July 16, Brooke was selected to read from her debut novel, Book of Addis: Cradled Embers at Callaloo’s final reading at the Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities, making Oxford her first international book tour stop.
